*** Hamish and Holly take the Minors by storm at the 2009 Beagle Club of Victoria Champ Show and Sweepstakes. *** Holly got Best Minor Bitch and Opposite Minor, and Hamish got 2nd in Minor Dog, under Molly Martin (USA), and then Holly got Best Minor and Hamish got Opposite Minor under Mr Mike Denny (UK). I am very proud of both of them!
My love affair with Beagles began over 20 years ago, when I adopted my first Beagle, Beau, a 12 week old, tan and white puppy, from the RSPCA shelter in Burwood, Victoria. Beau was not a registered "pedigree" beagle (although there was something distinctly "Balihai" about him), or an Australian Champion in the show ring, but he was all Beagle! He had such a delightfully sweet nature, personality plus, full of energy and fun, very clever, and if a dog can have a sense of humour, he certainly had one! I just adored him. He was my constant companion for 16 and 1/2 years, and when it was finally time to say goodbye to him, I wondered how on earth I would live without him in my life. Then I met Scot, (Australian Champion Teviot Scot O'Lauderdale) who came to live with me just two weeks after I lost Beau, and life has never been the same since! And I mean that in a very good way - I have travelled heaps, learned a lot, met so many new people and made some wonderful friends. Although even now I still miss my dear old Beau, I have had the opportunity to spend time with so many Beagles since then, and have so much fun, and all because I fell in love with a little lost tan and white bundle so long ago! I now also have a lovely girl, Sally (Australian Champion Teviot Gracious Melody), whose lines were selected to compliment Scot's. They have had their first litter, on 2/4/09, and Sally gave birth to 4 lovely pups, two of whom I have kept to show. These offspring will be the start of Melodale Beagles. The name Melodale came from combining Scot and Sally's names - Gracious MELOdy and Scot O'LauderDALE. And this is just the beginning.....
